Sauce and Lara, almost completely unknown outside of Venezuela, were nevertheless culturally and historically important figures in the development of classical music education in Latin American generally and within Venezuela in particular.
These two sonatas are emblematic of the many Latin American classical music compositions that are of great artistic merit but remain almost completely unknown. This album seeks to make two of those works available to the broader public and to raise awareness of the cultural contributions made by Latin American composers in the classical repertoire.
